Our Lady of Mount Carmel

This statue was a gift to our dear friends in Carmel, Indiana. I had actually had the statue for almost five years but never knew who or what to paint it for. In fact, our friends had just received a statue of the Infant of Prague which they had commissioned, and were thinking about having one of Our Lady of Mount Carmel painted. How Providential!
As with all of my statues, this I purchased of pre-molded plaster. The paints are both acrylic and oil. This is the first statue on which I used a new formula of antiquing stain, an acrylic stain. I am used to an oil-based stain, which I have to admit I prefer working with.
